Profhilo Skin Boosters in Bognor Regis

Profhilo is an injectable skin booster that improves hydration, firmness and texture across the whole face, rather than filling one area. If your skin has started to look dull, crepey or tired and you don’t want the change to be obvious to anyone else, it’s usually the first treatment Claire talks people through at CLT Natural Aesthetics in Bognor Regis.

Here’s what it actually does, what it won’t do, and how it compares to the other skin boosters available at the clinic.

What Profhilo does to your skin?

Profhilo contains 64mg of hyaluronic acid in a 2ml syringe, split evenly between high and low molecular weight forms. That’s one of the higher concentrations available in an injectable hyaluronic acid product, and it’s the reason Profhilo behaves so differently to a filler.

Hyaluronic acid holds water. The low molecular weight portion draws moisture into the skin, which is what gives that better-rested look in the first couple of weeks. The high molecular weight portion works more slowly, stimulating the fibroblasts that produce collagen and elastin. That second part is the one that matters for firmness, and it’s why the real result builds over months rather than appearing the next morning.

The two are bound together using NAHYCO Hybrid Technology, a patented thermal process that combines them without chemical cross-linking agents.

Why Profhilo isn't a filler?

A dermal filler is cross-linked. It’s designed to stay where it’s placed and add volume and structure to areas such as the cheeks, lips, chin and other regions.

Profhilo isn’t cross-linked. It spreads through the deeper layers of the skin, covering roughly two centimetres around each injection point, and works on skin quality across a broad area.

That distinction matters if you’re worried about looking altered. Profhilo won’t change your face shape and it won’t replace lost volume the way a filler can. If volume is your main concern, Claire will tell you that at consultation and talk you through dermal fillers in Bognor Regis instead.

What Profhilo can and can't improve?

It tends to work well for skin that looks dehydrated and flat, fine lines that come from dryness rather than movement, and early laxity along the jaw. Profhilo is commonly used across the whole face to improve overall skin quality, and the neck is also a very common area to treat, either alongside the face or as a separate treatment.

It won’t lift significant sagging, fill deep folds, fade pigmentation or improve acne scarring. It also won’t soften lines caused by muscle movement, which is what anti-wrinkle injections are for.

Being honest about that at the outset saves everyone’s time, and it’s the reason Claire won’t book a treatment before a consultation.

What happens at a Profhilo appointment with CLT?

Every treatment at CLT Natural Aesthetics starts with a consultation. Claire goes through your medical history, what’s actually bothering you about your skin, and whether Profhilo is the right answer or whether something else would suit you better.

The treatment itself takes around fifteen minutes. Profhilo is injected at five specific points on each side of the face, using a fine 29G needle, with 0.2ml at each point. Those ten points are chosen because they sit in areas with good tissue spread and away from the major vessels, which is what keeps the treatment both effective and safe.

You’ll most likely see small raised bumps at each point immediately afterwards. These are normal and usually settle within a few hours as the product disperses, although some people may not develop noticeable bumps.

The standard course is two sessions four weeks apart. Occasionally, some people may benefit from a third session, particularly if the neck needs additional treatment. After that, maintenance sessions are normally recommended every six months, although some people prefer four-monthly sessions initially.

Aftercare, which matters more than people expect

Bruising at the injection points is possible, though not common with a needle this fine. Claire will give you her own written aftercare, which generally means leaving the area alone for the rest of the day, holding off on makeup until the following morning, and skipping saunas, steam rooms and hard exercise for twenty-four hours.

You’ll notice the hydration first, usually within a week or two. The firmness comes later, typically four to eight weeks after the second session, and keeps improving from there.

Who Profhilo suits, and who it doesn't?

Most people who come for Profhilo are in their late thirties to their sixties, and many have never had an injectable treatment before.

It isn’t suitable if you’re under 18. Injecting cosmetic fillers into anyone under 18 has been illegal in England since 1 October 2021. It also isn’t appropriate if you have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, an active infection or inflammation at the treatment site, or if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding.† Certain autoimmune conditions and medications need discussing first, which is what the consultation is for.

Profhilo or Fillmed NCTF 135 HA?

Both are injectable skin boosters and both use hyaluronic acid, but they’re aiming at different things.

Profhilo relies on hyaluronic acid alone, at high concentration, delivered to ten precise points. Its strength is bio-remodelling: bounce, firmness and hydration.

Fillmed NCTF 135 HA is a mesotherapy treatment. It contains free, non cross-linked hyaluronic acid at a much lower concentration, combined with around sixty other ingredients including vitamins, amino acids, coenzymes, minerals and antioxidants. It’s delivered as a series of small injections across the treatment area, and a typical course runs to more sessions than Profhilo.

As a rough guide: if your concern is skin that’s lost its bounce, Profhilo is usually the starting point. If it’s a dull, tired complexion that no amount of skincare seems to shift, Fillmed is often the better fit. Some people benefit from both at different points in the year.†

Why people choose CLT Natural Aesthetics for skin boosters?

Non-surgical cosmetic treatments in England still aren’t covered by a statutory licensing scheme. A licensing framework has been proposed under the Health and Care Act 2022, and the Government published its response to consultation in August 2025, but it isn’t yet in force. Until it is, a practitioner’s training and accreditation are the only things you have to go on.

Claire Thelwell holds a Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Therapies, an Ofqual-regulated qualification equivalent to a master’s degree. She trained in advanced injectables with MATA in Harley Street, has completed botulinum toxin complications training, and brings over 30 years in clinical practice to every appointment. She’s a member of the ACE Group, the UK’s aesthetic complications body, and an associate of the JCCP.

CLT Natural Aesthetics is a single-injector clinic at 12 Thompson Road. Claire sees you at consultation, carries out the treatment and handles your aftercare herself. Nobody else touches your face, and there’s no hard sell at the end of a consultation. If Profhilo isn’t right for you, she’ll say so.

You’ll still look like yourself, just more like the you that you recognise.

No. Profhilo is a bio-remodelling injectable. Dermal fillers are cross-linked and designed to stay in place and add volume to a specific area. Profhilo is not cross-linked, so it spreads through the skin and works on hydration, firmness and texture across a wider area. It won’t change your face shape.

The standard course is two sessions four weeks apart. Some people with more sun-damaged or mature skin benefit from a third session a month after the second. Most then return for a single maintenance treatment around every six months.

After a full course of two sessions, results typically last around six months before a maintenance treatment is recommended. How long it lasts for you depends on your skin, your age, sun exposure and lifestyle factors.

Hydration and a fresher look usually show within one to two weeks of the first session. The firming effect, which comes from new collagen and elastin, builds more slowly and is generally most noticeable four to eight weeks after the second session.

There are ten injections in total, five on each side of the face, using a very fine needle. Most people describe a brief sting as the product goes in rather than pain. Claire uses anaesthetic to help take the sting out, so you’ll need to allow a little extra time for this before the treatment.

Very little. You’ll most likely have small raised bumps at each injection point that settle within a few hours, although some people may not develop noticeable bumps. Occasional bruising is possible.

Most people go back to normal the same day, though it’s sensible to avoid makeup, exercise, saunas and steam rooms for the first twenty-four hours.

The face is the most common area, but Profhilo is also used on the neck, décolletage, backs of the hands, inner arms and abdomen. Injection technique differs between areas because the skin is thinner in some places than others.

They’re often used together, as they address different problems. Profhilo works on skin quality, while anti-wrinkle injections soften lines caused by muscle movement. Treatments are usually spaced rather than given in the same appointment.

Eighteen. It has been illegal in England to inject cosmetic fillers into anyone under 18 since 1 October 2021. In practice, most people start considering skin boosters from their mid-thirties onwards, when natural collagen production has begun to slow.
